Maggie burst into tears and Amanda suffered her second collapsing showstopper - but it was Jairzeno who left The Great British Bake Off in biscuit week, after he struggled with just about everything.
The laid-back finance manager, 51, ran out of time with his “messy” brandy snaps in the first challenge.
Trying the fruity, chocolatey concoction, judge Prue Leith said the flavours were “too strong”, adding: “I couldn’t eat a whole one.”
Paul Hollywood agreed, telling him his effort was “not well executed”.
Jairzeno, who started baking a decade ago, then produced some deeply dodgy “hard” and “thin” jammy dodgers in the technical task, finishing near the bottom in ninth place.

But it was his embarrassing Tall Ship interactive toy showstopper - with a terrible paint job and broken masts - that really nailed his exit.
“It’s more of a shipwreck than a ship,” he confessed, before showing it to the judges, who branded it “rough and ready”.
Last week some viewers were astonished that he’d made it through to week two, having served up “a pink blob” as his unfinished showstopper, which did not fulfil the “gravity-defying” brief.

Jairzeno, originally from Trinidad, said he knew it was his time to leave as he sighed: “In the first challenge I really did run out of time and I was rushing around, although I finished, it didn’t have my usual presentation.
"In the technical I overbeat the mixture and that didn’t go in my favour. Then the mast on my boat fell down in the showstopper, and I lost a sail, so it didn’t look as great at the end as all the other bakers.

"I kind of knew there and then it was time to go. In the future I will make biscuits that don’t involve engineering," he added.
But Met Police detective Amanda, 56, still thought it might be her turn, saying: “Mine’s the only one that collapsed so I think my chances of staying are slim.”
Judging her carousel horse, Paul told her it could have been “the best we’ve ever had” but added: “I would never in a million years have chosen that biscuit to build this.” Gracious Jairzeno told her: “It was so pretty Amanda - compared to my ship."

And tearful ex-nurse Maggie, 70, whose brandy snaps were “pale and chewy” and whose beach-hut showstopper was “too basic”, wept: “I’d give anything to have another week. But everybody is so much more skilful.”
Taking no prisoners, Paul told her: “If you were looking at a traditional school report, it would say ‘needs to try harder’.”
The Great British Bake Off continues next Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
