A Great British Bake Off star contestant has hit back at 'hateful' trolls.

George Aristidou has taken to social media after he was bombarded with abuse following the latest episode of GBBO.

On Tuesday 26 October, the bakers were challenged with pastry as they tackled choux noughts, pies and Greek Baklava.

George has yet to really impress the judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood with them often marking him down on a lack of finesse to his baking.

While he was at the bottom end of the ranking this week, the judges saved him and sent home Amanda.

Many viewers took to Twitter to vent their rage with the decision, many confused as to why George is still in the running.

But George claims that some went a step further and privately messaged him 'hateful' things, Birmingham Live reports.

In his Instagram Stories, George said: “I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all the kind-hearted people who are supporting ALL the bakers with true bake-off spirit!

"You guys are amazing!

“To the minority who feel it’s ok to privately message hateful opinions to make people feel bad about themselves is not cool.

“Can I just remind you it’s a baking show that we all auditioned for and you do not have to go out of your way to spread hate.”

He added the hashtags: “#bekind, #spreadlovenothate and #whodiedandmadeyouthejudge.”

Next week, presenting duo Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding will joining the bakers in the tent for caramel week which will see the remaining bakers put their particular twist on a classic caramel tart in the Signature challenge.

The GBBO bakers have to make a family favourite biscuit bar in the Technical test.

For the Showstopper, the hopefuls must create a jaw-dropping dessert that is encased in a sugar dome.
