Great British Bake Off new series start date confirmed - and it's just days away

The Great British Bake Off is back on our screens in a matter of days.

Fans waiting for the hotly anticipated new series will be thrilled to find out the show is coming back very soon, with the start date just a few days away. The show will once against feature hosts Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas and judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, as they bring all the action from the tent.

Once again, a number of amateur bakers will have their baking and pastry skills put to the test as they try to prove their worth in the kitchen. From breads to biscuits to cakes and of course showstoppers, there are some big tests in store for the group.

For the upcoming series, they will return to the infamous tent after two years away because of the Covid pandemic, which put huge restrictions on filming and meant everyone had to operate in a Covid bubble.

"All the team, particularly Prue [Leith], found it really tough not being able to go home each week," a source said, "They are delighted that this year it will go back to the way it was, when they filmed at weekends and could leave during the week."
The start date has now been confirmed - and fans eager for the new series only have a short while to wait.

Alongside a picture of the group posing together during filming, they wrote: "In knead of some good news? Here’s a little something ... The Great British Bake Off is back on your screens on Tuesday 13th September at 8pm! #GBBO."

Ahead of the new series, Paul has warned the new set of amateur bakers

Paul and Prue are ready to pass judgement (Channel 4)

"You need to be very brave to do Bake Off as you have to come in front of Prue and myself and be timed," he shared, "It takes a lot of bottle to go into that tent and bake. The timing is the hardest part to deal with.

"I will walk away if they say, ‘Please go away’ but it is incredible to watch them turn from amateurs to professionals. I used to be involved with the auditions but now we can get 20,000 people auditioning and I can’t eat that much cake so I wait until I see them in the tent. I would rather see them fresh in the tent."
