The scones, the filo, the soggy bottoms and the towers of sponge that collapse ten seconds before judging - it’s all coming back, and it’s coming back soon.
For Channel 4 has announced the 2019 series of the Great British Bake Off will begin to be shown on our television screens on Tuesday, August 27.
That is the first day after the August Bank Holiday, and traditionally the day when people suddenly realise summer is over and the kids go back to school next week.
So Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig will be coming to give us some post-summer cheer, with a great big marquee, Paul Hollywood and some stunning baking creations.
It’s the show’s third series over on Channel 4 since the great 2017 switch over from the BBC, and the tenth overall.
The GBBO crew teased a trailer, which revealed Hollywood and Prue Leith still there, with Noel and Sandi too.
But there is no clue, as ever, yet about who is taking part as contestants.
They would have entered soon after the end of the last series in the autumn of 2018 and, as , the entry form is one of the most challenging things ever undertaken, so to even apply successfully to be considered should be in itself considered an achievement.
But many did, and didn't fall foul of the strict entry rules imposed by the programme-makers, which would ban someone just because they once worked in Greggs, and who they will be looks set to be revealed in the run-up to the show starting in less than a fortnight's time.
