Great British Bake Off flooded with complaints over problem 'ruining' show

Great British Bake Off fans are always ready for 8pm on a Tuesday as the autumn rolls in.

But during the latest episode, fans were flooding the Channel 4 show with complaints.

The 11 remaining amateur bakers were back in the tent for biscuit week.

They were tasked with making their own signature version of brandy snaps, a Jammy Dodger style technical challenge, and an extravagant biscuit showstopper that represented a childhood toy - with an interactive element.

It was once again Jurgen's time to shine as not only did he come top in the technical, he also bagged Star Baker for a second week running after creating an impressive gingerbread windmill.

But as All4 viewers tried to enjoy the latest Bake Off episode, they were hit by technical problems that have been plaguing Channel 4 for days.

"What’s going on with sound on the voice over tonight. Really annoying can barely hear it! #bakeoff #GBBO," tweeted one.

Another said: "What’s going on with the sound?! No acknowledgement of it whatsoever… so weird"

"Why does the sound on #BakeOff sound like Matt and Noel are hiding behind the tele and talking in creepy semi whispers?! Make it stop," a third added.

Jurgen once again came out on top as Star Baker (Channel 4)

A fourth commented: "@Channel4 what's going on with the sound on @BritishBakeOff? The voice over parts sound really strange #BakeOff #GBBO #GreatBritishBakeOff."

"What the hell is going on with the sound on @Channel4. It’s ruining #BakeOff," another said.

The issue is the result of a fire at a TV studio on Saturday which has caused problems for streaming service All4 as well as other Channel 4-run channels.

On Saturday, Channel 4 and More4 went off air while Channel 5 also faced technical issues and went off air.

Red Bee Media, which handles playout services for Channel 4 and Channel 5, said the disruption was due to an “activation of the fire suppression systems” on Saturday evening.

A spokesperson said: "We confirm that all staff at our Broadcast Centre in west London were safely evacuated following activation of the fire suppression systems.

"As a result of this incident and the automatic safety measures set in motion at the time, several services originating from the Broadcast Centre have been disrupted.

"London Fire Brigade attended the scene, and once they had determined that the building is safe, people were allowed to return to the building.

"We are continuing to work to restore all services and remedy any issues caused by this incident."

Programmes such as Sunday Brunch and Married at First Sight have also been affected in recent days.
