Fans of The Great British Bake Off are certain Bristol’s Giuseppe will make the finals after a “tense” quarter final round last night (Tuesday, November 9.)
Five bakers became four as Lizzie failed to wow the judges with her ice cream sandwiches during ‘free from’ week, while Chigs earned Star Baker with an impressive gluten free red velvet cake.
Despite his unsuccessful showstopper, Bristol’s Giuseppe made it through to next week’s semi finals after a strong technical round which saw the bakers try their hand at vegan sausage rolls.

It makes Giuseppe the second Bake Off contestant from Bristol to ever make it to this stage in the competition, after Bristol’s Briony Williams got through to the semi finals in 2018. Unfortunately things ended with a sour taste as the Bristol baker was sent home for using salt instead of sugar in her bake.
The only other Bristol contestants to appear on the show are photographer Ryan Chong who appeared in series three, and software developer Chris Geiger who appeared in series eight - both of whom left the competition before the finals.
Some fans of the show are cheering on Chigs after he was crowned Star Baker last night, but it’s Giuseppe who appears to have won over the hearts of the nation with some viewers going as far as to say they are “in love” with him.

One viewer wrote on Twitter: "Gutted to see Lizzie go, but still absolutely routing for Giuseppe to win. He's been favourite from the start. How is it the semi finals next week!!"
Another said: "Look at that beautiful cake! @giuseppecooks is the only one baking stuff I'd actually pay money for, week after week. Good luck Giuseppe"
Whereas others can't choose between Giuseppe and Jurgen, saying they need their own spin-off show.
"So we can all agree that Jürgen and Giuseppe are going to be joint winners of @BritishBakeOff right? #theymustbeprotected #GBBO."
Another said: "If Jürgen and Giuseppe don’t have a spin off show, then I’ve lost faith in all TV."
