Great British Bake Off fans slam 'hypocrite' Paul Hollywood over Prue Leith comment

Great British Bake Off viewers called out judge Paul Hollywood on Tuesday, over comments to fellow judge Prue Leith in the latest episode.

Prue expressed her dislike of baked beans, which was a product used in one contestant's quiches.

The remaining bakers had to create two different types of quiche, and had to decide on fillings for both.

For her breakfast version, contestant Lottie put the divisive breakfast food baked beans in it along with other ingredients.

Judge Prue immediately shared her disgust of baked beans, horrified about having to taste it.

She shouted out in front of Paul about her fears, only for him to stop her in her tracks.

He told her: "We've got to be open-minded about this Prue."

Viewers were not impressed though, given just a week ago he made a similar declaration.

He wasn't keen on gherkins being included in the bakers' burgers in a recent episode.

In fact, he asked for them to be removed, and this was something viewers had not forgotten.

After hearing his comments to Prue on Tuesday, viewers branded him a "hypocrite" as they took to Twitter.

One fan wrote: "A Bake Off observation: Paul tells Pru to be 'open-minded' about baked beans in a quiche after forcing people to remove gherkins from their recipes especially for him last week... the HYPOCRISY."

Another agreed: "Think it's hypocritical of Paul to say to Pru to be 'open minded' about the baked beans when he asked the burger buns to be without gherkins."

A third added: "Paul telling Prue to be open minded eating Baked Beans when the week earlier he's getting two bakers to remove gherkins is peak Paul!"

Another said: "Paul Hollywood: You’ve got to have open mind Prue. Also Paul Hollywood: Can I have mine without gherkin."

This was echoed by a fifth viewer who tweeted: "Yeah. Gotta be open minded haven't you, Paul Hollywood. Can't ask for something to be baked without an ingredient you don't like, that would Never ever happen would it, Paul Hollywood?!"

The Great British Bake Off continues Tuesdays at 8pm on Channel 4.
