Great British Bake Off fans horrified as they spot issue with Jurgen's bake

It's getting tense on The Great British Bake Off as the final edges closer.

The popular show was back on Channel 4 on Tuesday night as the remaining bakers took part in the quarter-final.

Lizzie, Jurgen, Guiseppe, Crystelle, and Chigs all returned to the famous tent for another set of challenges set by the judges.

This week was all about 'Free From' with the contestants tasked with making a dairy-free ice cream sandwich, meat-free sausage rolls, and gluten-free showstopper.

All of the five remaining bakers performed well under the latest pressure but it was sadly Lizzie who was the latest to be eliminated from the baking competition.

However, Bake Off viewers were left horrified earlier in the episode as the bakers got to grips with their mushroom and nut-filled sausage rolls.

That's because Jurgen suffered a major error when he went to check on his pastry treats.

As he did, he lost grip of the tray and the sausage rolls fell to the floor with Jurgen sadly saying: "Oh no."

But Jurgen didn't let that stop him as he picked them up, placed them back on the tray, and put them back in the oven.

And viewers were stunned that he served the bakery favourites that fell to the floor to the judges to vote on.

" I think it's out of order that Jurgen didn't fess up over the food on the floor. Should've told the judges," tweeted one.

Another said: "So are meant to ignore the fact that Paul and Prue were served floor food by Jurgen on #bakeoff #GBBO #GreatBritishBakeOff."

"JURGEN JURGEN! Cross contamination from the floor! #GBBO #sausageroll #freefrom," a third freaked out.

A fourth fumed: "Can’t believe Jurgen served food off the floor! Send him home! #GBBO #Floorgate."

But may others saw the funny side.

"What a lovely person Jurgen is...albeit with questionable food hygiene credentials. #GBBO," one viewer said.

Another tweeted: "Chucked them on the floor and still didn't come last. That's my boy Jürgen right there."

"Hahaha yes Jurgen!! I’ve eaten plenty of food off the floor in my time #GBBO," a third added.

A fourth said: "The fact that Jurgen’s sausage rolls fell on the floor and he said nothing, lol #GBBO."
