Great British Bake Off fans divided as baking mistake sees Sura sent home over Lottie

Sura was the latest Great British Bake Off 2020 contestant to leave the famous tent on Tuesday.

She was chosen by judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood to go home, during chocolate week on the Channel 4 show.

It could have been anyone facing the chop after a disastrous first task on the show.

Not one contestant pulled off a decent brownie recipe the judges claimed, as they tore the bakes apart.

But this seemed to be the theme for the whole episode, as the other two tasks saw many contestants struggling to impress.

It was poor Sura that suffered the worst blow though, as she presented the judges with a raw cake.

Paul and Prue shouted out and looked at her before declaring the dough was raw and inedible.

Moving on to the next bake, Sura was clearly gutted - and fans immediately believed this had cost her a place in the tent.

Prior to this, many were convinced Lottie was on her way home after trouble in the previous bakes.

But after Sura's mishap with the dough, viewers quickly predicted it had saved Lottie for another week.

Prue and Paul confirmed both ladies were at risk, calling out Sura's mistake with her cake - while pointing out Lottie had struggled with the two other tasks.

As the result came in, host Matt Lucas confirmed Sura was going home.

She said: "What's done is done, I'm not gonna be bitter about it. I had a great time."

"I hate white chocolate," she joked before confessing how gutted she was to go.

Lottie seemed stunned to be saved, before Paul confessed it was Sura's mistake that saved her.

The Great British Bake Off airs Tuesdays at 8pm on Channel 4.
