Great British Bake Off fans 'crying' after Giuseppe baffles Matt Lucas with one word

GBBO fans were in tears after Bristol contestant Giuseppe stumped Matt Lucas with his pronunciation of a particular word.

One viewer said she was "crying" with laughter after the Great British Bake Off favourite chatted with host Matt during tonight's show (Tuesday, October 26).

During the baklava technical challenge, Emersons Green engineer Giuseppe Dell'Anno questioned why anyone would make filo pastry rather than buy it, calling the process a "massive hassle".

A shocked-looking Matt looked lost for words before repeatedly asking Giuseppe to repeat himself, taking a while to realise that the Italian-born contestant was not saying anything rude.

Looking relieved, the presenter then exclaimed: "Oh my word, I genuinely thought you said something else there.

"A massive hassle."

Turning to the camera, the comedian then pleaded: "Please don't write in to complain."

Viewers were loving Giuseppe's accent and took to Twitter to share their reaction, with some admitting they also misheard the first time.

"The way Giuseppe pronounces ‘hassle’ I’m CRYING" tweeted one viewer, while another added: "Going to record Giuseppe saying “massive hassle” for use at work."

"I couldn't stop laughing," admitted a third, with one viewer agreeing: "It gets funnier the more you watch it."

Even Innocent Drinks got in on the commentary, tweeting: "Giuseppe's pronunciation of hassle has got us completely reevaluating David Hasselhoff's name."

Other viewers commented on the "naughty" nature of this evening's show, which seemed to feature even more innuendo than usual as the bakers navigated three tricky challenges during pastry week.
