Great British Bake Off fans convinced Maggie is secretly related to judge Prue Leith

Great British Bake Off fans have demanded that Prue Leith take a DNA test to prove she's not related to contestant Maggie.

As viewers tuned into Tuesday's episode of the Channel 4 show, they couldn't help but compare the ex-nurse to the 81-year-old judge.

Maggie is a 70-year-old retired midwife from Dorset who likes to stick to traditional baking.

Biscuit Week saw her make brandy snaps, as well as jammy dodgers and a showstopper alongside the rest of the contestants, but it was her appearance that got people talking.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: "I demand a DNA test between Prue and Maggie #gbbo."

Another tweeted: "Prue and Maggie are the same person in different fonts #Gbbo."

And a third person joked: "I’m genuinely convinced Maggie is just Prue Leith on witness protection #gbbo."

Someone else added: "Maggie is just Prue witbout the matching necklace and glasses #GBBO."

However, another viewer thought that Maggie looked like another celebrity.

"everyone’s doing the prue/maggie comparison but to me she’s imelda staunton #gbbo," they posted on Twitter.

And someone else just couldn't see the similarity at all and tweeted: "Maggie doesn’t look like Prue. THERE I SAID IT. #GBBO."

Others were really hoping that Maggie and Prue become firm friends once the series is over.

"if Prue and Maggie don't end up with an actual friendship I'll eat my hat! I can see them browsing the aisles of Waitrose on a Wednesday afternoon before having tea out of a bone china cup! #GBBO #GreatBritishBakeOff @PrueLeith," one person wrote.

The Great British Bake Off continues Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
