Great British Bake Off host Matt Lucas has revealed that the show's cast and crew will self-isolate ahead of the new series, before forming a bubble in order to film.
Fans of the hit Channel 4 show will know that the last series, won by youngest ever champion Peter, was filmed during the pandemic last year, with production being impacted by social distancing regulations.
And, while restrictions have eased in recent weeks, former Little Britain star has told Lorraine Kelly that Bake Off' s forthcoming run will still be very much Covid secure, with everyone involved going into isolation beforehand.
Appearing on Lorraine on Friday, Matt said: "We’re starting (filming) very soon. And like last year we’re going into a bubble. All self-isolating and getting tested.
"And then we’re going into Covid-free bubble, so we can all taste each other’s bakes and there can be handshakes and all sorts.”
Teasing what we can expect from the new batch of contestants, Matt continued: “I’ve seen the video clips of all the new bakers and there’s some brilliant ones in there.”
“I just have fun and I love working with Noel (Fielding). He’s so funny. And of course we’ve both been in double acts – we’re used to being in that dynamic.
"And Paul [Hollywood] and Prue [Leith] are so friendly and they were so welcoming. I was so nervous going into this hugely popular show and Sandi (Toksvig) had left very big boots to fill. But it’s great, so much fun to be a part of.”
Matt, who caused a real stir with his impression of Boris Johnson at the start of the last series, also divulged that there will be more skits and sketches this time round.
