Great Barr stabbing: Boy, 12, knifed in the head in Birmingham

A 12-year-old boy has been stabbed in head during a vicious attack in Birmingham - the latest in a wave of violent attacks to rock the city.

Police say the boy was knifed in the head and leg in Elm Drive, Great Barr, at around 3.10pm on Saturday, April 20.

The circumstances of the attack were not known, but police have confirmed that the boy's injuries are not life threatening.

West Midlands Police have launched a probe into the attack on the victim, who is among the youngest to be targeted in a recent crime spike.

Locals residents say the knife attack happened on the Black Path, a walkway between Great Barr and Yew Tree.

The Great Batt knife attack is the latest in a spate of violent crime that has rocked Birmingham in recent months.

On February 13, 16-year-old Sidali Mohammed was found with knife wounds outside Joseph Chamberlain College.

He was taken to a nearby hospital but died on Friday, February 15 as a result of the attack. Three people were arrested in connection with his murder.

Only days later, a man was left in critical condition after being attacked with a knife near the Mailbox in Birmingham City Centre in the early hours of Sunday, February 17.

Two teenagers were charged with the attack and were due to appear in court on February 20.

On February 19, a man in his 20s died after an attack on Chadwick Close in the Merry Hill area of Wolverhampton.

Investigators have launched a murder probe and are still searching for his attackers.
