'Great alternative' Luis Sinisterra hailed after Leeds United winger impresses for Colombia

Leeds United winger Luis Sinisterra has been showered with praise by the Colombian press after scoring his maiden international goal in Sunday’s 4-1 win over Guatemala.

Sinisterra was handed his sixth cap for the Tricolores when he was introduced at half-time by newly appointed Colombia boss Nestor Lorenzo and took just 12 minutes to find the net.

Several of the old guard still remain, such as James Rodriguez and Radamel Falcao, but the Colombian press have proclaimed that Sinisterra and Luis Diaz are among those who represent the present and future for the national team.

“Luis Sinisterra came on for Falcao and scored a beautiful goal. He is a great alternative in the attack for the Tricolors,” wrote Carlos Villa of El Universal.

El Espectador columnist Hernan Pelaez declares that Sinisterra is one of several players that the nation will be able to count on in the years to come.

The 23-year-old, who arrived at Elland Road from Feyenoord in the summer, has scored four goals in as many games for club and country.

However, he won’t be appearing at this winter’s World Cup, after Colombia failed to qualify for international football’s most prestigious tournament for the first time since 2010.

Sinisterra marked his sixth cap with his first Colombia goal in a 4-1 win over Guatemala on Sunday.
