A slice of ‘summer lovin’ is coming to Wales next month thanks to a big outdoor screening of one of the most iconic films of all-time at a beautiful and historic venue.
1978 classic Grease is going to be shown at Cardigan Castle. The film, starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, is one of the most successful and loved musicals of all time. It adds to an exciting schedule of outdoor cinema events across Wales over the summer, as the country continues to enjoy a period of glorious sunshine.
The showing of Grease at the castle in Ceredigion will be the first of three popular films which will be played on a big outdoor screen at the venue over the next six weeks. As well as Grease, the castle will also screen Elton John biopic Rocketman and musical classic West Side Story. To get the latest What's On newsletters from WalesOnline, click here.

Cardigan Castle is a site of historic significance as the first stone castle built by a Welshman and the home of the first-ever Eisteddfod in Wales. It is a Grade 1 listed building, dating back to the 11th century. It was rebuilt in 1244 and the Green House inside the castle walls was built in the early 19th century.
The venue reopened to the public for the first time in more than 20 years in 2017 following a £12m restoration project which won the Channel 4 Restoration of the Year Award. You can read more about that here. The castle has collaborated with nearby Theatr Mwldan to host annual outdoor screenings, and film fans are invited to bring their own camping chairs and blankets to enjoy classic movies under the stars.
Grease will screen at the castle on Friday, August 5, with doors opening at 7.15pm and the film starting at 8.45pm. Tickets are £10 for adults and £8 for children in advance, and £12 and £10 respectively on the day of the screening.
Rocketman will then be shown on Saturday, August 13, and West Side Story a just over a fortnight later on August 28. Tickets can be booked at the box on boxoffice@mwldan.co.uk or by calling 01239 621 200.
