Chantelle Atkins sadly met a tragic end at the hands of her abuser and husband Gray Atkins tonight.
EastEnders viewers have seen Chantelle plotting her escape from Gray for weeks.
While on a family holiday, Gray rifled through her suitcases and found the poker chip she'd been hiding in her make-up bag to fund her escape from him.

Having told Kheerat where the spare key was and what the alarm code was, he entered the house to grab a memory box containing the children's baby bits, but the alarm code he put in was wrong sending an alert to Gray's phone.
Insisting they leave, Chantelle and Gray returned to the square.

Tonight, the night's events escalated as Gray forcefully pushed Chantelle onto the floor, injuring her so badly she couldn't move.
Deciding not to ring 999, Gray left Chantelle to die.
Metro spoke to EastEnders’ Executive Producer Jon Sen to find out if Gray gets his comeuppance.
Jon said: "We were also really keen to show complexity in Gray’s psychology going forward. He’s a man who is violent towards his wife and we’ve showed him having regret and shame about that.
"Reflecting the complexities behind a character like him, rather than portray him as purely evil, because in trying to humanise it, it stops it feeling too bothering for the audience.
"We wanted to be very clear that domestic violence like this exists on a sliding scale, the characters and their personalities are much more common than anyone would have you believe – they live amongst us."
Spoilers have revealed Gray will be questioned by police - but viewers will have to continue watching to see what happens.
