Grassfire extinguished near Stromlo

A grassfire at the Murrumbidgee River near the Stony Creek Nature Reserve has been extinguished.

The fire was 20 metres by 20 metres in size, as of shortly before 2pm. It was extinguished by 3.30pm

The ACT's state of alert was downgraded on Monday and will now only apply to rural and remote areas.

Minister for Police and Emergency Services Mick Gentleman said the decision had been made due to easing weather conditions, recent rainfall and progress on containing fires near the border.
