Police are investigating whether or not there is any connection between former Police Minister Troy Grant's father and a fatal hit-and-run at Bolwarra.
Kenneth Grant, 70, was charged with mid-range driving and police pursuit-related charges after police spotted a Mazda BT50 utility travelling south on Belmore Road, Lorn, about 11.30pm on Saturday.
The Highway Patrol was responding to a collision on Flat Road that claimed the life of a 62-year-old male pedestrian.
Police tried to pull over the ute, but claim the driver failed to stop, which triggered a low-speed pursuit. Mr Grant travelled through several streets until the ute mounted a footpath in High Street, according to police.
He was arrested and taken to Maitland Police Station where a subsequent breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.108.
Mr Grant received conditional bail to appear at Maitland Local Court on Wednesday, December 18. His licence was suspended.
