Hull boss Grant McCann believes former Sunderland midfielder George Honeyman is the best midfielder in League One this season.
His honest admission comes after popular magazine Four Four Two ranked the former Black Cats youngster as League One's best player.
Honeyman has found the net three times this season for Hull and has 13 assists to his name - the most in the division.
The 26-year-old has excelled for the Tigers this season picking up a host of man of the match awards with City in pole position in the race for automatic promotion.
The poll prompted a debate among Sunderland fans as to whether he or Aiden McGeady is the division's best player and the Tigers boss has now waded in on the debate.
Speaking to HullLive, McCann said: “When these polls come out, I don’t know how they can say a midfielder is better than a defender or a defender is better than a striker.
“For me he’s the best midfielder in the league without a question of a doubt.
“When they say best player in the league, it’s a bit of an open-ended question really, so for me he’s the best midfielder in the league, second to none.
“His performances have shown that, I think Doc (Greg Docherty) is right beside him.”
While there is no definitive answer as to who is the best midfielder in the division, Honeyman has been influential into the Tigers bid for automatic promotion.
The Prudhoe born midfielder has notched 3,367 minutes in 39 league games this season with City on the verge of promotion back to the Championship.
According to Wyscout, no player has won more tackles than Honeyman’s with 90, while his 40 crosses is the league’s best.
The former Black Cats trainee has the most assists in the division and has created more big chances than any other player in England’s four divisions along with 92 key passes.
