Grant Leadbitter's goal against Doncaster Rovers has been nominated for the League One goal of the month.
The midfielder gave the Black Cats the lead on the brink of half-time with a 25 yard pile driver that found the top left corner of the net.
His first-half thunderbolt looked to be enough to kill off a limp Doncaster side, only for Fejiri Okenabirhie to force home in a goalmouth scramble right at the death.
Leadbitter is up against Daniel Butler of Peterborough and Conor Grant of Plymouth Argyle.
