Grant Hanley slaughtered as Norwich defender scores first goal of Premier League season with horrific OG

Most players would be delighted to notch the first goal of the season in the greatest league in the world.

But not Norwich 's Grant Hanley.

Not when the Scotland international horribly sliced the ball into his own net after just seven minutes of his club's Premier League opener at Liverpool.

Hanley, captaining the Canaries at Anfield, didn't look to chirpy as he suffered the moment to forget in front of millions of live TV viewers.

It soon got worse for his side too as Mo Salah made it 2-0 to the rampant Reds after 19 minutes. And ex- Celtic star Virgil van Dijk added a third with just half an hour on the clock.

Divock Origi made it 4-0 before half-time as the roof began to cave in on Norwich.

Another ex-Celt Teemu Pukki pulled one back for Daniel Farke's Premier League new boys after 63 minutes. And they had the consolation of that being the last goal of the game.

But Hanley's misery, predictably, was pounced upon by an unforgiving Twitterati.

@ChrisNoice said: "Do you think Grant Hanley will tell his kids about the time he was the Premier League’s top scorer?"

@GrahamRuthven said: "Ah. I see Grant Hanley is back in the Premier League."

And @MarkTait78 added: "Good to see that Grant Hanley is equally as bad at club level than he is at international... 29 caps for Scotland..."

While @ScotCrawf888 said: "Grant Hanley scoring OG's is the most typical Grant Hanley thing ever."

@MikhiMcCarthy : "More like Grant Ha Ha Ha Hanley."

But @cartilegefree quipped; "Whoever made a cheeky bet on "Grant Hanley own goal" for first goal of the 2019-20 Premier League season is probably dancing with joy right now."
