Granny in nursing home vows she's 'going Copper Face Jacks' in hilarious Covid vaccine interview

While the pandemic has been so very difficult on us all there are still moments of joy that emerge each day.

And one person who thankfully gave us some much needed relief this morning was an elderly lady at Dublin's Beneavin House nursing home who had just received the Covid-19 vaccine.

89-year-old Bridget Ryan was delighted with herself after getting the jab following a a worrying start to the pandemic, Dublin Live reports.

She was diagnosed with Covid in April 2020 but thankfully she got through it, experiencing only mild symptoms.

She described the pandemic as a strange time because she was so used to meeting people and going out but she already has significant plans for her big 9-0.

Speaking to RTE, she joked: 'I'm going to Copper Face Jacks [for my 90th in April]'.

On Tuesday the Dublin granny who became the first person in Ireland to receive the Covid-19 vaccine was administered with her second dose.

Granny Annie Lynch, the 79-year-old Liberties lady now living in Drimnagh, was given the second Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine in St James's Hospital on Tuesday after receiving the first dose on December 29.

The Pfizer/BioNTech jab requires two doses and became the first approved vaccine in the EU against the deadly coronavirus.

It will take around seven days before the vaccine is expected to be able to protect people against developing severe Covid-19 infections with Annie also the first patient to receive the follow-up jab.

The delighted Dub said: "I’m relieved to have the two doses and can’t wait to see my family and grandchildren.

"I felt fine after the first dose, no after effects at all. I am delighted to have received the second dose."
