Granny gets round lockdown rules by wearing pink unicorn outfit to hug grandchildren

One thing that many grandparents are missing during lockdown is the ability to hug their loved ones.

But one grandmother from Cinnaminson, New Jersey, USA, has managed to get around the rules on direct contact with an unusual solution - by wearing a unicorn outfit.

In a video shot by Hugh Dillon, the grandma can be seen walking down the street fully clad in a large pink costume resembling the mythical horse.

As she walks down the road, two children can be spotted running across the other side of the street into the unicorn's arms.

First an older boy in a red shirt is seen running towards the grandma and jumps to hug her as she approaches the house.

Another boy, wearing a yellow shirt and helmet, rushes toward the grandma before saying the hug “was awesome!”

According to Dillon, it had been some time since the grandma had been able to hold her grandchildren.

In a post on his Instagram account, Dillon wrote in the caption that the grandma and grandchildren lived just a few blocks apart but were unable to see each other due to COVID-19.

The last time they were able to see each other face-to-face was March 17 before coronavirus forced the family into lockdown.

That's almost two months ago.
