Sokratis, Torreira, Xhaka and Aubameyang - Latest Arsenal team news and expected XI vs Wolves

Arsenal now face two crucial away games in the Midlands that could make or break their season.

The first of those, away to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday night, has long stood out on their run-in as arguably the most challenging of games but it is one for which Unai Emery will be optimistic of being able to deploy a full strength squad.

Granit Xhaka was the most notable absentee from the squad that lost 3-2 to Crystal Palace as he battled the hip injury that forced him to be substituted in the Europa League quarter-final second leg against Napoli.

Arsenal said before the Palace defeat that Xhaka's absence had been precautionary, to which Emery added: "Xhaka asked to change in the second half against Napoli and today could've played, but with some risk."

football.london understands, however, that Xhaka is expected to be available to make the trip to Molineux. Lucas Torreira could feature alongside him in midfield.

The Uruguayan has been hampered by pain in his groin in recent weeks but his demotion to the substitutes bench on Sunday was merely due to Emery's desire to rotate his squad rather than any fitness issues.

In defence Sokratis Papasthopoulos is likely to return after serving the final game of his two match ban whilst Nacho Monreal should also be available after being rested against Crystal Palace. It remains to be seen whether club captain Laurent Koscielny is afforded a similar break.

Emery has generally eschewed starting Mesut Ozil in away games but it remains to be seen whether the hamstring injury that is likely to sideline Aaron Ramsey for all but the final games of the season convinces the Arsenal head coach to retain his German playmaker.
