Granit Xhaka's brilliant gesture to lifelong Arsenal fan after heartbreaking Wolves postponement

A lifelong Arsenal fan from America who found out that the Gunners' match against Wolves was postponed just minutes before he boarded a flight to London has been given a second chance to see his heroes.

Jack Robinson had flown with his wife Heather from St Louis, Missouri, arranging the trip six months prior as part of their 10 year wedding anniversary celebrations.

After seeing their summer plans to watch Arsenal's pre-season tour of America cancelled, the couple booked a trip to London in the hope that they would watch the Premier League game at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

But just as they began boarding their flight to London the match was called off due to Wolves being unable to fulfil the fixture, after having a mixture of COVID-19 cases and injuries in their squad.

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka discovered Jack's emotional social media post and reached out to him via Instagram, where he sent the invitation of a lifetime to the American Arsenal fan.

"Hi Jack, I just got home from the game and I have seen your tweets that you and your wife were flying over from America for our game against Wolves," Xhaka wrote on Instagram, as seen by football.london.

"I could see you were upset about the game being cancelled as you had waited a long time to fly over to watch us. If you are still in London on the 1st Arsenal vs Manchester City game as my guest to thank you for your dedication to Arsenal. Would that be good for you?"

Jack responded by thanking the Swiss international for the heartwarming gesture, saying "words can't express how I feel at this time, you reaching out to us... you don't understand what this means."

The Gunners face Manchester City on New Years Day before games against Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, Tottenham and Burnley throughout the month of January.
