Granit Xhaka's agent drops major transfer hint amid Arsenal exit links

Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen are keen to sign Arsenal star Granit Xhaka this summer, as per the Mirror.

Xabi Alonso's side are said to be 'desperate' to prise Xhaka away from the Emirates Stadium at the end of the current campaign having also pursued a deal for the Swiss international in the past. Now, the 30-year-old's agent Jose Noguera Rodriguez has taken to social media to post a picture of Xhaka alongside Gunners teammate Bukayo Saka.

"All or Nothing (fire emoji) @granitxhaka @bukayosaka87 @arsenal @signature_iscm #dream #together #spirit #family" his post read, accompanied by a picture of him, Xhaka and Saka. Considering the backdrop of the image was clearly Arsenal's London Colney training ground, some fans began to theorise that Rodriguez was there to negotiate a new contract for his client.

"Hope Granit is signing until 2026 at least", Instagram user @PreciousIkiki commented.

"Granit must stay and extend his adventure with the Gunners. He will undoubtedly be a legend of Arsenal. His name will remain associated with the club forever, so much he will have done and given. Please @granitxhaka stay (bicep emoji)", wrote @jonarsenal87.

Xhaka's current contract runs until the summer of 2024, with the club holding an option to extend this by a further 12 months. The fact that he was pictured along with Saka perhaps made supporters more inclined to believe a new deal was in the pipeline, with the 21-year-old set to extend his contract, football.london understands.

The Hale End academy graduate, who has enjoyed a stellar 2022/23 campaign with Mikel Arteta's side is understood to have already filmed some promotional material ahead of the deal. It is thought that it is a matter of when and not if the extension is confirmed.

Xhaka has also played some of his best football in an Arsenal shirt this term, thriving in a more attacking role on the left side of Arteta's favoured 4-3-3 system. The former Borussia Monchengladbach captain has put up the best numbers of his career in terms of goal involvements, netting five goals and providing a further seven assists in the Premier League alone.
