Granit Xhaka responds to question over Arsenal exit amid Inter Milan transfer interest

Granit Xhaka insists he has no plans to leave Arsenal this summer.

The Switzerland midfielder has been linked with a move away from the Emirates after Arsenal failed to qualify for the Champions League.

Inter Milan are believed to be interested in Xhaka, 26, who played against England in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday.

Arsenal need to free up funds by selling some of their players this summer but Xhaka does not expect to be on his way out of the club.

Asked by Blick if he would be leaving during the transfer window, Xhaka said: "Not that I know.

"I have another four years on my contract, I only signed last year.

“I’m happy there, my family too. That’s the most important thing."

Xhaka also insisted he is ready to inherit the captaincy at the Emirates, after wearing the armband on multiple occasions last season.

"It would certainly be the dot on the i," he added.

Arsenal boss Emery is likely to be given just £40m to strengthen this summer after failing to qualify for the Champions League.

A central defender remains a priority as does a midfielder, with Aaron Ramsey tipped to join Juventus .

Jordan Veretout, who had a brief spell in the Premier League with Aston Villa, has been lined up as a potential replacement.

And the Fiorentina midfielder's agent admits his future is unclear ahead of the summer.

"There are four or five important clubs who want Veretout, in Italy and abroad,’ his agent Mario Giuffredi said.

"I don’t like to name names, but we’ll see what happens and who steps forward to close the deal."
