Granit Xhaka drops major hint over Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal line-up for Leeds clash

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka may have dropped a major hint that he will be starting against Leeds United this evening.

The Gunners will be hoping to make it three Premier League wins on the bounce after defeating Southampton 3-0 last Saturday before recording a 2-0 win against West Ham United in midweek.

Mikel Arteta's men now find themselves fourth in the table, with top-four rivals Manchester United, as well as the aforementioned Hammers, both not playing this weekend due to Covid-19 positives.

However, the north Londoners face a stern test at Elland Road considering they have struggled away from home this season, losing five of their eight league matches away from the Emirates Stadium this term.

Ahead of the must-win fixture, Xhaka has hinted that he could start against Marcelo Bielsa's side, posting a matchday preview on his Instagram account.

Xhaka spoke about Arsenal's leadership following the decision to remove Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as captain of the club, with the Swiss captain urging fellow midfielder Thomas Partey to step up given the rest of the squad is incredibly young.

“We have a lot of young players, and you can see the hunger in them,” Xhaka said after the win against West Ham.

“But as well, the experienced players like me, like Thomas (Partey) for example in the middle, we have to take them to the side, we have to speak with them.

“They are making our life very easy because they are playing very good. They are scoring and we are enjoying playing with them.

“But, of course, we need the leaders in the team and at the moment we are doing well.”
