Granit Xhaka has received backing from his former club after his meltdown against Crystal Palace .
The Arsenal midfielder had a spat with Gooners when he was substituted on the hour mark in Sunday’s 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium.
Xhaka reacted angrily to the jeers from home fans that greeted his number going up by shouting ‘f*** off’, ripping off his shirt and storming down the tunnel.
Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl is baffled by the Switzerland international’s lack of popularity among Arsenal fans and defended his “emotional” reaction.

“I am very sorry for him personally,” Eberl told Sport Buzzer . “In my view, it is incomprehensible.
“For me, it seems incomprehensible from a distance, since I know that in England the fans always support their clubs and the players, especially their captain.
“Granit is not there for nothing, but because he is a top professional.
“He is an emotional player who gives everything for his club.”

Arsenal fans have called on Unai Emery to strip Xhaka of the captain’s armband following his tantrum.
But, speaking ahead of the Carabao Cup trip to Liverpool , Emery refused to confirm whether he would take drastic action.
"At the moment I'm not speaking and I don't want to think about that,” the Arsenal boss said.
"It's not easy for him and for the team. He is now devastated, sad. We spoke yesterday and Sunday night and this morning.
"He trained normally with the group but he is devastated. He is sad about that situation.
"His commitment is great every time. He wants to help. His behaviour was perfect in training, with the group and club. Really he knows he was wrong.
"He feels inside, very deep. It's normal as a human. Every player needs the supporters' support."
