Voluntary Action Cardiff has announced it is running an event in Grangetown to raise awareness of the area's environmental issues.
On Monday 22 March at Channel View Centre, Grangetown, local groups will be able to make an action plan with help from an expert panel including Jacqui Bell – chief executive of Voluntary Action Cardiff.
The event is organised in conjunction with the Lower Grange Community Partnership - the Communities First project for the area and organisers hope people coming to the area will go away with a better awareness of the issues affecting their local environment.
Jeremy Rees, who works for Voluntary Action Cardiff co-ordinating the Communities First programme in the Grangetown said:
"The Greener Grangetown group has already shown that local people are keen to get more involved in their environment through their Litter Picks, but by working together on an action plan from this event the group hopes to expand its activities to address issues such as developing areas where alley-gating has created unused space.
Grangetown is a great place to live, but can be even better if we work together to tackle environmental issues and get to know each other in the process. By working together we brake down barriers and increase awareness - and that helps people to feel part of the community as well as helping the environment."
The next Greener Grangetown litter pick is on Friday 26 March, meeting outside the Channel View leisure centre at 2pm. Visit the Grangetown community website for more info.
The event runs from 12- 5pm and is free. For more information email Jeremy Rees from Voluntary Action Cardiff jeremy.r@vacardiff.org.uk or call 029 2048 5722
