Grangemouth's much-loved Spitfire Memorial has been brought back to life after a good scrub.
The site - just off Bo'ness Road in the town - had been looking a little dusty over the past few years but now has it sparkle back.
Grangemouth's Spitfire Memorial is a tribute to 71 pilots of 11 different nations who were killed in training at RAF Grangemouth.
The Mark 1 Supermarine Spitfire with the markings PQ-N is a replica of the one flown by Polish pilot Sergeant Eugeniusz Lukomski who tragically died in training aged just 23.
The Spitfire Memorial was unveiled on May 9 2013.
Mr Balfour said: "Some time ago, I spoke with former 1333 Grangemouth Air Cadet Squadron Leader Tom McMorrow who asked if I could look into a clean-up of our much loved Grangemouth Spitfire Memorial.
"I have been looking into this and spoke to former Grangemouth Spitfire Memorial Trust Chairman, Iain Mitchell of local family owned business, John Mitchell Grangemouth Ltd, to find out a bit more about the Spitfire and the requirement to have it safely cleaned.
"During discussions with Iain, he very kindly offered and agreed to pay for the cleaning of the Spitfire and memorial site.
"I am pleased to report that the cleanup operation was carried out today (Tuesday August, 31) and I would like to thank Tom and Iain for their continued support and commitment to our town."
