Grangemouth residents 'disgusted' as street bins overflow with rubbish and dog poo

Residents in Grangemouth say they're "disgusted" street bins have been left to overflow with rubbish and dog poo.

A number of locals have contacted us to raise their concerns about a lack of emptying of bins and are worried it could attract rodents.

The worst streets are believed to be Strowan Road, Oxgang Road and Abbotsgrange Road.

It's claimed the issue was reported to Falkirk Council before Christmas and then again the week after.

Pictures sent to Falkirk Live show poo bags surrounding the bins.

Councillor David Balfour has now stepped in in a bid to have the rubbish removed.

One woman who lives on Oxgang Road, said: "It’s absolutely disgusting, and I really don’t under why these bins are not being emptied at least once a week.

"The smell that’s coming from them is vile. I’m just glad it’s winter, because if this summer, the smell would be unbearable.

"I’ve contacted Falkirk Council four times between December, 22 and 31, and was told they’d be emptied within a working day.

"Clearly this has not happened."

A Falkirk Council spokesperson said: "Our 1752 street bins are serviced on a regular basis.

"We have checked our reporting system and can confirm that we received a report on the 6 th of January relating to Abbotsgrange Road and Bowhouse Road – these bins are due to be serviced today, 10 January.

"These bins should not be used for household waste as this can result in them filling up more quickly than they can be serviced. The team are continuing to service all bin routes."
