Grangemouth records Scotland's highest temperature of the year so far with heatwave on the way

It’s been a bit of a wash out this month, but believe it or not the Falkirk district has recorded Scotland’s warmest temperature of the year so far.

Grangemouth recorded 19.3C beating the likes of Bishopton at 18.6C and Prestwick at 18C over recent weeks.

The stats were revealed by STV weather presenter Sean Batty during his forecast on the STV News At 6 this evening.

He also said a hint of summer is coming.

Next week temperatures are expected to soar into the high teens, possibly low 20s.

And we’re told the decent summer like weather could last for around two weeks.

So it looks like we could be reaching for the BBQ, shorts, t-shirts and flip flops next weekend for the Bank Holiday.
