Grandmother builds a Lego table with Ikea and Home Bargains buys and spends £40

A grandmother has taken a Pinterest project and transformed it into a reality and she spent less than £50- including chairs.

Lego projects are one of the best ways to entertain kids so it's no wonder purpose-built lego stations are on to-do lists.

Sharing the post in a Facebook group for bargain lovers the grandmother said that she managed the project on a £40 budget.

It comes with rails to hang pots of leggo pieces, lego boards and if you already have chairs or stools the cost drops to £22.16.

Since posting, other parents and guardians have shared their projects and admiration.

The project has been a hit in the Facebook group (Facebook)

Buying a purpose-built lego table can cost anywhere from £48- £100 and not all of them come with the addition of sliding storage containers.

The original poster said: "Ive made the lego table for my grandchildren from the Ikea lack coffee table

  • IKEA Lack coffee table £6
  • IKEA Sunnersta kitchen rail £3 each
  • IKEA Sunnersta extra pots 75p each
  • IKEA Mammut chair £9
  • Lego compatible base boards £1.79 each from home bargain

"Total cost £40.16

"If you didn't want chairs it would have only cost £22.16 and its so easy to make"

Over one thousand people have liked the photographs and more than one comment just said : "wow"

"Looks great we made one too, so easy and cheap to make!" said another shopper who opted for a different colour scheme of white, blue, red and grey.

"I made one too, the kids love it", said another.

"This is awesome! I may need to make an adult sized one...", joked another member of the group.

Someone else said that if you wanted to make a slightly bigger table it's possible with a different Ikea table.

They said: "If you wanted to make it taller for an older child, ikea do desk legs that can be purchased separately.

"We went for 4 of the £2.50 legs and the lack table to create a small desk for our daughter. The stool is also from the ikea bathroom section."

"Brilliant was literally about to spend £70 on one of these!!", said a shopper who welcomed the savings.
