CHENNAI: Grandmaster P Iniyan won the Arandjelovac GM Round Robin 1 tournament held in Serbia which concluded on Friday. The 12-player and 11-round classical competition saw Iniyan score 8.5 points and finish on top. Of the 11 games he played, Iniyan won 7, drew 3 and lost 1.

Iniyan’s wins came against Serbian GM Damljanovic Branko, Bosnian GM Dizdarevic Emir and a crucial victory against IM Sankalp Gupta of India who finished in second place. Players from about 6 countries were participating in the competition.

Iniyan drew against GM Kosic Dragan of Montenegro, Russian IM Makarian Rudik and American FM Acor Corey. The victory gives Iniyan 9.4 ELO rating points and his live-rating is 2555 currently.
