An 85-year-old grandma says she "couldn't believe" the kind gesture of staff at her bank after she had mentioned in passing that she was on the lookout for a present for her friend.
Edna Harrison, from St Helens, popped into a branch of Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) in the town, where she has developed a friendship with some of the employees as she visits regularly due to her distrust of cash machines.
The mum-of-five mentioned that she was struggling to find a particular brooch to send to her pen pal in Australia, and staff left her speechless when they then went the extra mile to help her, as reported by Liverpool Echo.
Edna's eldest grandchild of nine, John, told the Echo: "My gran went in to the branch as she always does when she wishes to put funds in or withdraw funds, as she has always done this as she does not trust cash machines.

"By going in regularly this is how she has got to know the ladies in the Royal Bank of Scotland and they always chat to her as in their words she is one of their favourite customers.
"In general conversation she told the ladies she was looking for a brooch, so the ladies got it up online and went out of their way to order this brooch and once it got delivered, they delivered it personally to my gran."
Staff refused to take any payment, with John saying it made the family "emotional" as his gran always puts other people first, and for someone to do the same for her was "lovely to see".
Edna has since been back to the branch to hand over a thank you present to staff, and John posted on Facebook in the hope of getting the staff members the "recognition they deserve".
John wrote: "I pick her up every Friday from the charity shop she works in and when I’ve dropped her off at home, the ladies from the bank have turned up with this brooch which they’ve gone out their way to order online and would not take the money off my Gran.
"It has absolutely made her week so my family would like to thank these women if they are reading this, it was an unbelievable gesture and it’s made my gran smile so much."
One person commented to say: "Kindness is a simple gift....you absolutely lovely people for making someone so happy."
A second wrote: "That has brought tears to my eyes it's an amazing thing to do xxxx."
And one of the members of staff even stumbled across the post, replying: "I wanted to say 'Thank You' for taking the time to do this. Your Gran is an absolute delight and I just wanted to help her find what she was looking for.
"I spoke to her again today and she is so happy. Her smiley face when she saw the brooch will stay with me forever. Thanks again from all of us at the RBS St Helen's branch x."
