Grandma arrives at Glastonbury Festival with Zimmer frame for belated 80th birthday wish

For her 80th birthday in 2020, all grandmother Pat Brooks, known as Nanny Pat, wanted was a ticket to Glastonbury festival - and two years later, she is finally stepping foot inside the iconic outdoor music festival.

Speaking to the BBC at the festival yesterday (June 22) as Nanny Pat made her way through the festival's entry gates on the first day of the event, Linda Brooks-Lampard said: "My brother and my sister-in-law, their mother has been to Glastonbury two, three times before and for her 80th birthday they asked what she would like.

"So she's actually here with her Zimmer frame, coming through the gates. We've all had to gather together to share the experience with her and also give her a hand as well." Linda's husband Simon Lampard added: "Her name is Nanny Pat, she comes camping with us, all over the country, there's no stopping her even though she is on a Zimmer frame and she is shuffling this year."

When asked by BBC's entertainment correspondent Colin Paterson if Nanny Pat was excited when it was announced the Chemical Brothers were doing a DJ set, Simon replied: "Absolutely, she will be up there, if she can get to the stage, she'll be up there."

Linda said Nanny Pat's taste in music is "absolutely everything", adding: "The louder the better." The pair then went on to reveal how they had to "hold her back" at the Kaiser Chiefs' set a couple of years ago.

Posting an image of Nanny Pat herself coming through with her Zimmer frame on Twitter, Colin Paterson wrote: "This is Nanny Pat. For her 80th birthday in 2020 all she wanted was a ticket to Glastonbury. Two years later and she is finally getting to go. 'I like to get to the front by sneaking down the sides.'"
