Grandad who died after being hit by lorry named - as devastated loved ones release pictures of family in happier times

A grandfather who died after being hit by a delivery lorry has been named as his devastated loved ones release pictures of their family in happier times.

Emergency services were called to a back street of Bradford Street, near Bolton town centre, at 9.45am on Saturday (November 28).

It followed reports of a collision between a large delivery wagon and a pedestrian.

The man, 65, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have now named the man as Clive Atkinson.

His family has released images from a gathering and issued a heartbreaking statement through Greater Manchester Police.

Mr Atkinson leaves behind a wife, a son, two daughters, a daughter-in-law and grandchildren.

His loved ones said: "Our whole family is devastated by this awful incident.

"Clive Will be sadly missed by his wife - Lorraine, son - Daniel, daughters - Heidi and Keeley, daughter-in-law - Leesa and all his grandchildren."

The driver of the wagon stayed at the scene to speak with officers, GMP said.

No arrests have been made, the force added.

Enquiries are ongoing.

Police Inspector Danny Byrne, of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said on Saturday: "This collision has tragically resulted in a man losing his life and specialist officers will continue to support his family as they attempt to process what has happened.

"Our thoughts are very much with his family and friends as our enquiries continue and we are urging any witnesses or anyone with information to contact our team.

"If you have any dash-cam or CCTV footage that could aid our investigation, please get in touch as soon as possible so we can provide the man's family with some answers."
