Grand Tour hell as Jeremy Clarkson and pals go without booze on Mongolia trip

Jeremy Clarkson and his petrol-heads are used to finding themselves in tough circumstances.

They were run out of Argentina, threatened at gunpoint in Chicago, and Jeremy even started a war with the Welsh.

But now I can reveal that Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond endured one of their worst challenges yet during a week sleeping rough in the desert in Mongolia.

It wasn’t the barren landscape, Army-style food rations or the possible snow leopard encounters that stepped it up a gear for The Grand Tour team.

No, it was the moment they opened the food supplies and discovered there was no booze.

Jeremy says: “Mongolia was nuts, although what made Mongolia nuts is that the producers packed everything we would need for seven days, and they didn’t pack a single, tiny bit of alcohol.”

James adds: “We had to sleep rough, we didn’t have much food, and then there was no drink, which was a deliberate ploy, I think – although nobody’s admitting to it.”

Producers for the Amazon Prime Video show were last night keeping tight-lipped, refusing to say if it was a cunning ploy or a practical joke.

Although after that infamous night when a Top Gear producer stood between Jeremy and his beef, I would probably claim it was a genuine mis-steak.
