Fans furious as Rockstar delays Grand Theft Auto VI until November 2026

At a glance

  • Rockstar Games has delayed the release of Grand Theft Auto VI until November 19, 2026 — around six months later than expected.
  • The developer said the extra time was needed to deliver the level of polish fans “expect and deserve.”
  • Frustrated fans vented online, with one writing: “GTA 6 being f***ing delayed again just pissed me off. KEEP THE F***ING GAME AT THIS POINT — WE DON’T WANT IT ANYMORE.”

Fans of the hugely popular Grand Theft Auto series have been left devastated after Rockstar Games announced yet another delay to the release of GTA VI.

The developer said on Friday that the much-anticipated game will now launch on November 19, 2026 — around six months later than expected.

In a post on X, Rockstar said: “We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realise has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.”

But the news has not gone down well with fans online. One wrote: “GTA 6 being f***ing delayed again just pissed me off. KEEP THE F***ING GAME AT THIS POINT - WE DONT WANT IT ANYMORE!”

Another added: “#GTA got delayed again… at this point, we’re the game and we’re being played.”

The next instalment in the blockbuster series will return players to the Miami-inspired Vice City and introduce the franchise’s first female protagonist, Lucia.

Rockstar said: “While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern-day Vice City.”

Fans had originally been told to expect the game in 2025, before the date was pushed to May 2026 earlier this year.
