Garda have launched a huge manhunt to find the Grand Theft Auto-style hijacker who stole a car with a pensioner inside as his son picked up a takeaway in west Dublin.
The brazen thief hopped into the vehicle in Clondalkin not knowing that the hungry 75-year-old elderly Dubliner was in the back seat awaiting his Chinese.
His son had hopped out of the car for only a matter of seconds while he picked up the takeaway delivery for both of them from Bawnogue restaurant Yummy Yummy.
But in those crucial moments, the thief had spotted the vacant car - which had been left on to keep the heaters running for the pensioner on the cold night - and was gone in a flash.

The hijacker only realised that the elderly dad was in the back after being on the road for a few minutes and booted him out of the car in the cold before speeding off.
A Garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "Gardai are investigating the theft of a vehicle which occurred on Bawnogue Road on the 12th February at approximately 10:50pm.”
He added: "No injuries were reported, no arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing."
