A new documentary exploring the history of Grand Theft Auto has revealed that the creator of Super Mario once paid a visit to Dundee.
Shigeru Miyamoto, a Japanese game designer considered to be the father of modern gaming, visited the City of Discovery's DMA Design in the early 1990s to see how a new Nintendo project was progressing.
Miyamoto is credited as the creator of some of the best known game series in the world, including Super Mario, Donkey Kong and the Legend of Zelda.
The amazing factoid was unearthed by YouTube documentary channel Noclip, which has released a new video on the history of GTA - created by DMA before it changed its name to Rockstar North.

Mike Dailly, who designed GTA along with smash hit Lemmings, told journalist Danny O'Dwyer that Miyamoto visited DMA to monitor the progress of Kid Kirby - a game featuring the Nintendo character Kirby that was never released.
He said: "I did the SNES [Super Nintendo Entertainment System] version of Lemmings 2 but we also started getting interest from Nintendo as well.
"We had Miyamoto up at the offices as well."
Asked what it was like having the modern father of gaming in Dundee, Mike added: "I didn't really know who he was at the time.
"Early 90s he wasn't the huge name everyone knows of him later.
"He was just...there's a guy coming round, try and wear something neat, he'll be standing behind you for a bit, that's sort of it."
Noclip's feature-length documentary, The History of Grand Theft Auto, Lemmings & DMA Design, was released earlier today.
It sees a number of the original developers at the Dundee company recount the history of DMA and its smash hit games.

The video pays great attention given to the series' Dundee origins, detailing how its status as a post-industrial city producing ZX Spectrum computers at the Timex factory inspired its future as a hub of game development.
Closing the documentary, Danny says: "The city of Dundee has gone on to become one of game development's most influential cities."
Since being created in Dundee in the 1990s, GTA has become one of the biggest gaming franchises in the world.
The most recent entry to the series, Grand Theft Auto V, has shipped over 155 million copies worldwide.
