The Grand National festival returns today for a spectacular few days of horse racing.

The three day event begins on Thursday, April 4 and finishes on Saturday, April 6, with the Grand National itself taking place at 5.15pm that day.

Today's Grand National Thursday is set to honour the local sporting talent that’s come out of Merseyside with a ‘Champions Lounge’.

If you can't make it to Aintree, you can watch all the action on your television.

What time is the Grand National Thursday coverage on?

Seven top-class races are scheduled for Thursday, attracting runners from National Hunt yards from both the UK and Ireland.

The racing gets going at Aintree at 1.45pm and finishes after the last race at 5.15pm.

What TV Channel is showing Grand National Thursday racing?

ITV has secured the broadcasting rights to show all the high-profile races from Thursday, April 4 to Saturday, April 6.

Ed Chamberlin and Francesca Cumani present live coverage from the opening day.

Coverage on ITV starts at 2pm and finishes at 5pm.

On Sky Channel 426 and Virgin Media Channel 536, Racing TV will air all seven races.

ITV Racing will show the 4.05pm Randox Health Foxhunters' Open Hunters' Steeple Chase, plus races at 2.20pm, 2.50pm, 3.25pm and 4.40pm.

The 1.45pm Manifesto Novices Chase and 5.15pm -  Aintree Mares Flat Race will be shown on Racing TV.
