Grand National latest - who won the 3pm at Aintree?

With crowds packing out the stands at Aintree racecourse, excitement has been building since Grand National day finally dawned, bringing with it all the usual buzz and anticipation around the racing event of the year.

In the run-up to the big day in Liverpool, the Grand National has been dominating conversations, following confirmation of all the runners and riders .

And after days of studying names, colours, odds , weights and form, the betting frenzy reached its peak.

The unveiling of the the Grand National jockeys proved big news and anyone still struggling with decisions on where to place their bets had plenty help at hand from the likes of our Grand National tips on how to pick a winner and some National picks from former winner Richard Dunwoody.

A selection of races - all part of the 2019 Randox Health Grand National festival - will be keeping spectators occupied this Saturday in the lead up the main event and we will be bringing our readers all the latest news from Aintree as it happens.

And coverage of the eagerly-awaited big race Grand National 2019 at 5.15pm can be followed live on the  Liverpool Echo - as well as on TV of course.

Ahead of the big money stakes day, Aintree's clerk of course Andrew Tulloch was reporting "lovely ground" and said that Saturday is predicted to stay quite cool with fewer possibilities of the odd shower.

So, as we keep an eye on both the skies and the ground, here's the latest about what's happening this Grand National Day, Saturday, April 6.
