Grand National hero Tiger ready to Roll in Boyne Hurdle at Navan

Tiger Roll makes his first racecourse start this afternoon since making it back-to-back Grand National successes last year.

The 10-year-old kicks off his 2020 campaign in the Boyne Hurdle at Navan, a race he won 12 months ago, before going on to the Cross Country Chase at the Cheltenham Festival and the Grand National at Aintree once again.

Connections confirmed during the week that Tiger Roll will run in the world's most famous steeplechase as he bids to become the first horse in history to win it for a third consecutive year.

Speaking ahead of today's contest, trainer Gordon Elliott said: "Tiger Roll will have his first race since winning last years National but he hasn’t been far from the media since returning to the yard.

"It’s been well documented that he had a slight set back so today will only be a spin out in order to get him race fit.

"He’ll come on hugely for the run and it’s what he loves to do.

"It will be great to let the public see him again as he is one in a million and the apple of everyone’s eye at Cullentra.

"Keith [Donoghue], who rides him out everyday at home will have the ride on him."
