Day one of the 2019 Grand National continues with the Betway Bowl Chase at 2.50pm - which is live on ITV.
This Grade 1 race on A Day Of Champions is run over 3 miles and 19 fences and is generally considered to be for horses who ran well in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
As a result it is often one of the best races at the Aintree Festival, with former winners including Desert Orchid and See More Business. This year’s Gold Cup runner-up Might Bite was champion in 2018.
In a field of six, King George winner Clan Des Obeaux is the favourite for trainer Paul Nicholls, while last year’s Betway Bowl Chase runner-up, Bristol De Mai, is fresh on the back of a third place finish in the Gold Cup.
The Willie Mullins-trained Kemboy is one of three Irish challengers alongside Balko Des Flos and Road To Respect, while Colin Tizzard’s Elegant Escape completes the Aintree field.
