This afternoon brings one of the highlights of the British sporting calendar in the shape of the 173rd running of the Grand National.
With last year’s renewal of the Aintree showpiece having been cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s race is perhaps even more eagerly anticipated than usual, with a maximum field of 40 runners set to take on the iconic course.
Cloth Cap seems likely to be sent off favourite, while a strong Irish challenge is headed by Burrows Saint and Any Second Now, with Rachael Blackmore hoping to add to her Cheltenham heroics as she rides Minella Times.

When is the Grand National?
The Grand National will take place today, April 10, 2021 at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool.
The first race of the day goes off at 1:45pm, with the Grand National itself scheduled to start at 5:15pm.

How to watch
TV channel: ITV1 will be broadcasting live coverage of the Grand National, plus four other races, with the programme starting at 2pm.
Racing TV will show full build-up and all seven races on the card.
