Grand National 2020 green light for Gordon Elliott's two-time winner Tiger Roll

Tiger Roll will run in the Grand National as long as his runs in advance of the £1 million contest go to plan.

Owners Gigginstown did not commit their two-time hero to the April 4 race at the unveiling of the weights earlier this week, but seem to have had a change of heart.

With trainer Gordon Elliott keen to see if the ten-year-old can become the first horse to win three Nationals in consecutive years, Eddie O'Leary is now backing the plan.

"If all goes well this weekend and then all goes well at Cheltenham, it will then be the National, hopefully," he said.

Tiger Roll was allotted joint top-weight in the Aintree marathon, off a rating 11lb more than last year.

Not currently qualified for the 4m 2f test, he has to run over fences beforehand and a repeat bid for the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase trophy is in the pipeline.

First though he meets 2019 Grand National runner-up Magic Of Light in Sunday's Grade Two Boyne Hurdle at Navan, as long as Storm Dennis does not interfere with the plan.

Inspections have been announced ahead of tomorrow's high-profile National Hunt cards at Ascot, Haydock and Wincanton. Lingfield will also check the weather before racing, due to the forecast for strong winds.
