Grand National 2019 prize money: How much will the winner earn?

The 2019 Grand National is hurtling ever closer.

The most famous race of them all will take place this Saturday as 40 horses battle it out at Aintree. Over £300,000,000 will be wagered on the National alone as punters try and score a winner.

This year's favourite is Tiger Roll, who will of course be ridden again by Davy Russell as they bid to win the National for the second year in succession.

Elliott has, however, also finalised jockeys for all his contenders as he readies a formidable battalion for Saturday, which is set to break the record for the number of National runners from the same stable.

But how much will the winner earn?

Aintree confirmed that this year's prize money is the same as last year, with a £1 million purse and the top-10 finishers receiving a cheque.

The winner receives a cool £561k while second place walks away with £211k. Third takes home just over £100k, while 4th pockets £52k in cash, with 5th netting £26k.

When is it?

The big one comes on Saturday with the world's most famous race getting underway at 5.15pm BST, just as it did in 2018.

How can I watch it?

The race - and the rest of the festival - will be broadcast live on ITV with Ed Chamberlin the man leading the coverage.
