Grand Designs drama as couple 'don't give a s**t' about Kevin McCloud's opinion over home

An episode of Grand Designs in which a homeowner said that she didn't "give a sh*t" what Kevin McCloud and his team thought is set to be broadcast again this evening.

The TV presenter, 62, shares his expertise with homeowners on the Channel 4 programme, which documents the renovation of properties and any issues encountered.

He will be shown, in a repeat tonight, visiting Leigh and Richard in Cornwall, who had an ambitious plan to convert a derelict flour mill into a into a three-bedroom home.

They had sold their home in Derbyshire to fund the project, with the self-proclaimed "novices" admitting to Kevin that they were expecting to make "a few mistakes" along the way.

The pair bought the property, which is said to date back to the 17th century, for £235,000 and estimated that the project would cost £250,000 - with a £50,000 contingency.

Kevin however warned of the "risks," expressing concern that the budget wouldn't be enough for their plans - with their finances and structural damage later causing issues.

During a visit to the property, months into the renovation, Kevin - who described himself as a "purist" - shared his view that conserving pre-existing structures would be best.

Their interior plans however, he said, made it essentially a "new building" inside, with the couple having not saved as much of the original structure as Kevin would have done.

"I feel my argument for conservative repair may never find a happy home within these walls. Leigh and Richard, weary and worn down, just want to get it finished," he narrated.

The couple weren't particularly interested though, with them discussing their plans in the absence of Kevin later in the episode. Leigh said: "You can't save everything."

Richard shared his view that they had actually retained some original features, commenting: "I think we've gone to a lot of trouble to save things we didn't need to."

Leigh said that the property is a "significant building" and agreed with her husband that they had "saved" some elements, before further sharing her opinion on the matter.

Kevin is said to have been impressed with the property in the end (Channel 4)

She commented: "To be honest, I don't think an outsider standing here is in a position to make a judgement and really l don't give a s*** about what they think."

Kevin responded in a voiceover: "Well, that's me told!" Following the buildings' completion, the TV presenter is said to have been impressed with the transformation project.
